UAE Lottery vs Big Ticket vs Dubai Duty Free: Which Draw Is Worth Your Money?
Ticket prices, draw frequency, odds and eligibility compared: UAE Lottery vs Big Ticket vs Dubai Duty Free, and which draw is worth your money.

Last updated: 6 August 2026
Three big prize draws operate legally in the UAE in 2026, and they could hardly be more different products. The UAE Lottery sells a Dh50 ticket into a twice-weekly jackpot draw. Big Ticket sells a Dh500 raffle ticket into a monthly draw in Abu Dhabi. Dubai Duty Free sells a Dh1,000 ticket into a 5,000-ticket series with the best published odds of the three. All three are legal, but not in the same way — and the practical differences in price, frequency, eligibility and odds matter more than the marketing.
Key takeaways
- The UAE Lottery (The Game LLC) holds the GCGRA's sole lottery licence. Big Ticket and Dubai Duty Free are "preexisting airport lotteries" the regulator has authorised to continue under its supervision.
- The UAE Lottery's Lucky Day draw runs twice weekly, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:30pm, with tickets from Dh50 and a Dh30 million jackpot that has now been won twice.
- Big Ticket is a monthly raffle drawn on the 3rd of each month; tickets cost Dh500, and 2026 grand prizes have ranged from Dh20 million to Dh30 million.
- Dubai Duty Free's Millennium Millionaire caps each series at 5,000 tickets at Dh1,000 each, giving a fixed 1-in-5,000 chance of winning US$1 million — by far the best published odds.
- Only Big Ticket and Dubai Duty Free are practical options for people outside the UAE; The UAE Lottery is restricted to players physically in the country, aged 18 or over.
The legal picture, briefly
The legal framing from our earlier comparison still holds, so here is the short version. On 9 December 2024, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) — the UAE's sole federal gaming regulator — said it had granted the country's sole lottery licence to The Game LLC, operator of The UAE Lottery. In the same statement it said Big Ticket and Dubai Duty Free were authorised to continue operating as preexisting airport lotteries under GCGRA supervision, while every other legacy draw was ordered to shut down.
So all three are legal to play, but their status differs: one federally licensed lottery, and two legacy airport raffles running under supervision. We covered the legal detail in our Big Ticket and Dubai Duty Free legal status guide. The rest of this piece is about what you actually get for your money.
The UAE Lottery: the cheap, frequent option
The UAE Lottery's flagship Lucky Day game runs every Wednesday and Saturday at 9:30pm, with ticket sales closing at 8pm on draw days; the twice-weekly schedule dates from spring 2026. Tickets start at Dh50. Players pick six "Days" numbers from 1 to 31 plus one "Months" number from 1 to 12. Matching all seven wins the Dh30 million jackpot; the second prize is Dh5 million, and each draw also guarantees three Lucky Chance ID prizes of Dh50,000. Based on that published format, the jackpot works out at roughly one in 8.8 million per Dh50 ticket — long odds, but the cheapest entry point of the three by a factor of ten. When nobody matches all seven numbers, the jackpot rolls over to the next draw.
The jackpot is no longer theoretical. After the format revamp in December 2025 cut the top prize from Dh100 million to Dh30 million, Tayab Khan, a Nepalese resident of Abu Dhabi, became the first Dh30 million winner on 27 May 2026. A second followed five weeks later: Sunil Kumar Sadasivan, an Indian resident of Abu Dhabi, won the 1 July draw. Before the revamp, Indian expat Anilkumar Bolla won the only Dh100 million jackpot ever, on 18 October 2025.
Eligibility is the tightest of the three: you must be at least 18 and physically located in the UAE to register and play. For the full mechanics, see our UAE Lottery rules explainer and the odds breakdown in our draw 260718 results piece.
Big Ticket: the monthly raffle with the biggest prizes
Big Ticket is the veteran — a raffle that has run at Abu Dhabi's airport since 1992 — and it works differently from a numbers lottery. Each Dh500 ticket is a raffle entry into the monthly draw, held live on the 3rd of each month, and your odds depend on how many tickets are sold; Big Ticket does not publish a cap. Grand prizes in 2026 have ranged from Dh20 million to Dh30 million, and the operator also advertises consolation cash prizes, weekly prizes and a "Big Spin" worth up to Dh1 million. Promotions are common — at the time of writing the site offers free tickets with multi-ticket purchases.
The winners' list this year shows the format works. Anna Lee Gayongan, a Dubai-based Filipino expat, took Dh30 million in the 3 January draw. Abdul Rasheed Allipra Valappil Abdu, a 48-year-old Dubai-based driver from Kerala, won Dh25 million on 3 May — and said he would keep working and share the prize with 26 friends. Kanika Arora, from Delhi, won Dh25 million in the Series 288 draw on 3 July. The operator currently advertises a Dh20 million grand prize for its next series. The 3 March draw was postponed by a day because of regional tensions during the Iran conflict, a rare disruption; draws have run normally since.
Big Ticket is also the most open of the three: the draws are open to many nationalities and tickets can be bought online from abroad as well as at Abu Dhabi's Zayed International Airport. Recent winners include players resident in Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
How much does a Big Ticket cost?
A Big Ticket raffle ticket costs Dh500, including VAT. One ticket is one entry into the monthly draw on the 3rd, and multi-buy promotions bring the effective price down: the operator's site currently advertises "Buy 2 Tickets, Get 3 Free".
Is Big Ticket legal in the UAE?
Yes. The GCGRA's 9 December 2024 statement authorised Big Ticket to continue operating as a preexisting airport lottery under the regulator's supervision, and it has run its monthly draws ever since. That status differs from a licence. The country's sole lottery licence belongs to The Game LLC, operator of the UAE Lottery, while Big Ticket's legality rests on the December 2024 authorisation, the same basis on which every other legacy draw was ordered to shut down.
Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire: the best odds, at a price
Millennium Millionaire, running since 1999, is the simplest proposition of the three. Each series is capped at 5,000 tickets, tickets cost Dh1,000 each, and the prize is US$1 million (about Dh3.67 million). That is a fixed 1-in-5,000 chance — transparent, published, and dramatically better than any jackpot odds elsewhere in the market. The trade-off is the price of entry and the smaller prize: Dh1,000 buys you a shot at Dh3.67 million, not Dh30 million.
Each series is drawn once its tickets sell out, which in recent months has meant a draw roughly every two to three weeks. On 3 June 2026, Gaurav Madaan, an Indian compliance officer who has lived in Dubai since 2023, won Series 545 with ticket 2916; a Russian winner, Vitalii G., took Series 546 on 16 June. Tickets are sold at Dubai Duty Free's airport stores and online. Dubai Duty Free also runs separate Finest Surprise car and motorbike raffles.
How much is the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire ticket?
A Millennium Millionaire ticket costs Dh1,000. Each series is capped at 5,000 tickets, so every ticket carries a fixed 1-in-5,000 chance of winning the US$1 million prize, about Dh3.67 million.
Which draw should you pick?
The one-line verdicts: the UAE Lottery for the cheapest ticket and the most frequent draws, Big Ticket for the biggest headline prizes and for playing from outside the UAE, Millennium Millionaire for the best odds of a seven-figure win.
It depends on what you are optimising for, because no single product wins on every measure.
- Smallest stake: The UAE Lottery at Dh50, with two chances a week and a rolling jackpot. The trade-off is the longest odds and the requirement to be physically in the UAE.
- Biggest headline prize: Big Ticket, whose monthly grand prize has reached Dh30 million in 2026, with frequent multi-buy promotions softening the Dh500 entry cost. It is also the practical choice for players outside the UAE.
- Best probability of a life-changing win: Millennium Millionaire, where 1-in-5,000 is as good as legal draw odds get anywhere — if you can justify Dh1,000 a ticket and a US$1 million ceiling.
One honest caveat applies to all three: these are draws of chance with negative expected value by design. Treat the ticket price as entertainment spending, not investment, and never buy through unofficial resale channels — the operators sell through their own sites and counters only.
