The Dubai Racing Carnival opens at Meydan on Friday 6 November. Gate times, key dates to 12 March, AED 10 tickets and why you cannot bet at Meydan.

Last updated: 5 November 2026
The Dubai Racing Carnival 2026-27 opens at Meydan on Friday 6 November 2026, with gates at 4pm and the first race at 5.30pm. It then runs over 16 meetings to a closing night on Friday 12 March 2027, 15 days before the Dubai World Cup on Saturday 27 March. Tickets start at AED 10, and there is no legal betting at the track: what racegoers can do is see good horses for little money and, if they want to play along, enter a free prediction competition rather than place a bet.
Key takeaways
- Opening night: Friday 6 November 2026 at Meydan. Gates open at 4pm, seven races worth AED 1,365,000 run from 5.30pm to 9pm, and DJ SLIM plays the Paddock Garden after the last race for every ticket category, according to Dubai Racing Club (DRC).
- 16 meetings: the Carnival runs from 6 November 2026 to Friday 12 March 2027, with Festive Friday on 18 December, Fashion Friday on 22 January and Emirates Super Saturday on 27 February.
- Cheap entry: DRC prices general admission from AED 10, the Paddock Garden from AED 75 and hospitality from AED 345.
- The finale: the 31st Dubai World Cup on Saturday 27 March 2027, where nine races share US$30.5 million and the main race is worth US$12 million.
- No betting at Meydan: there are no bookmakers on course, and Play971's own help centre says the licensed sportsbook is "not available in Dubai". Offshore betting apps are illegal everywhere in the country.
When does the Dubai Racing Carnival 2026 start?
The Carnival starts on Friday 6 November 2026 at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. DRC, which runs Meydan, confirmed the details in a release on 26 October: gates open at 4pm and the first race goes off at 5.30pm. After the final race, DJ SLIM takes over the Paddock Garden for a set that DRC says is open to all racegoers "across every ticket category".
The official declarations, published on the Emirates Racing Authority (ERA) calendar by 4 November, show seven Thoroughbred races, all on dirt, worth AED 1,365,000 between them:
- 5.30pm Emirates Airline (conditions, 1,200m), AED 210,000
- 6.05pm Emirates Skywards (conditions, three-year-olds, 1,400m), AED 210,000
- 6.40pm Emirates Courier Express (maiden, 1,200m), AED 165,000
- 7.15pm Emirates Holidays (handicap, 1,900m), AED 190,000
- 7.50pm Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum Cup (handicap, 1,600m), AED 250,000
- 8.25pm Emirates SkyCargo (maiden, 1,400m), AED 165,000
- 9pm Arabian Adventures (handicap, 1,600m), AED 175,000
The richest race is the Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum Cup at 7.50pm. With the last race at 9pm, DJ SLIM's set starts after that. The Meydan meetings that follow in November are on Wednesday 11, Friday 20 and Wednesday 25 November, according to the ERA calendar.
What are the key Dubai Racing Carnival dates for 2026-27?
DRC announced the Carnival and World Cup dates on 9 June, as reported by Gulf Today, and repeated the feature nights when tickets went on sale on 8 September. These are the fixed points:
Date — Meeting — What it is
- Friday 6 November 2026 — Opening night — First of 16 Carnival meetings
- Friday 18 December 2026 — Festive Friday — Pre-Christmas feature night
- Friday 22 January 2027 — Fashion Friday — Feature night; DJ SLIM returns, per DRC
- Saturday 27 February 2027 — Emirates Super Saturday — The last big card before World Cup night
- Friday 12 March 2027 — Closing night — Final Carnival meeting
- Saturday 27 March 2027 — Dubai World Cup — 31st running, nine races, US$30.5 million
The other ten Carnival meetings fall between those dates. DRC has not issued a single fixture list in its releases, so the ERA's online calendar is the place to check individual race nights as their cards are published.
This page is about the Carnival itself. For the full national calendar, including Abu Dhabi Turf Club, Al Ain, Jebel Ali and Sharjah, see our UAE horse racing season 2026-27 dates. Meydan has 17 of the season's 64 ERA meetings; Dubai's other course, Jebel Ali, has 11.
How much are Dubai Racing Carnival tickets?
DRC's 8 September release says tickets are on sale for all 16 Carnival meetings:
- General admission: from AED 10
- Paddock Garden: from AED 75
- Hospitality packages: from AED 345
Tickets are sold through dubairacingclub.com, whose booking button links to DRC's ticketing site, dubairacingclub.tmtickets.ae. Neither the September nor the October release sets out an age limit or dress code, so check the ticket terms for the night you choose.
At AED 10, a Carnival night is one of the cheapest live sporting events in Dubai. The Carnival is also the build-up to the richest night in the UAE racing calendar, the Dubai World Cup.
Can you bet at the Dubai Racing Carnival?
No. This is the question visitors ask most, and the answer for Meydan is simple: there is no legal way to bet from the racecourse.
Gambling is a criminal offence in the UAE unless it is licensed. Article 461 of the Crimes and Penalties Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021) says: "Whoever gambles shall be punished with incarceration for a period not exceeding (2) two years or a fine not exceeding (50,000) fifty thousand AED." There are no bookmakers or tote windows at Meydan, and a cash bet between friends or a wager on an offshore app is unlicensed gambling.
Since June 2026 Play971 has taken racing bets. It is run by Coin Technology Projects LLC, the only sports-wagering licensee on the register of the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA). But Play971 is not available everywhere in the country. Its help centre says: "Play971 is accessible within the UAE only, except Dubai. Access is not available in Dubai or outside the UAE." A racegoer standing in Meydan's grandstand is in Dubai. Our explainer on whether you can bet on the Dubai World Cup covers this in detail, including the 21-and-over rule, the Emirates ID requirement that shuts out tourists, and why a VPN does not help.
What can you do instead of betting at Meydan?
Play a prediction game. Last season, DRC ran a Pick 7 competition on race nights, including World Cup night: you filled in the paper "entry form issued on the day of the meeting", picking the winner of each of the last seven races, and prizes were paid in cash on the night. DRC's race programmes listed no fee for the form. On World Cup night 2026 the competitions carried AED 385,000 in prizes.
A competition with no stake is a different thing in law from a bet. The Penal Code's Article 460 defines gambling as a game where each party agrees, if they lose, to pay the winner money or something else. Nobody pays anything to enter a free prediction game, so nobody loses a stake. DRC has not yet published its 2026-27 competition terms, so look for the form and its rules in the race-day programme on 6 November rather than assuming last season's prize levels.
If you find yourself wanting to bet rather than predict, or someone in your group is chasing losses on an illegal app, our guide to responsible gambling help in the UAE lists where to get support.
What comes after the Carnival?
Fifteen days after the 12 March closing night, Meydan stages the 31st Dubai World Cup on Saturday 27 March 2027. Gulf Today reported DRC's announcement that the nine-race card carries "a total prize money of $30.5 million", with "$12 million at stake in the title contest". Emirates Super Saturday on 27 February is the last major Meydan card before that.
Racing does not stop in the UAE after World Cup night. The ERA calendar has meetings at Abu Dhabi Turf Club and Al Ain until 15 April 2027, as our season calendar sets out.
