TrueWin vs Play971: Same Licensed Operator, Different Rules
TrueWin vs Play971: same licensed operator, different rules. Deposits, app, racing, live casino and Dubai access compared from both brands' own pages.

Last updated: 8 November 2026
TrueWin vs Play971 is not a contest between rival companies. Both sites are run by Coin Technology Projects LLC, the only company the federal regulator lists for online gaming and sports wagering in the UAE. They still differ on things that matter to users: TrueWin's minimum deposit is Dh60 against Play971's Dh10, only TrueWin offers an app, only Play971 has horse racing, and only Play971 states its licence and its Dubai exclusion on its own pages. Account verification, betting limits and withdrawal times are the same on both.
Key takeaways
- Same company: TrueWin's privacy notice and Play971's footer both name Coin Technology Projects LLC, the sole internet gaming and sports wagering licensee on the GCGRA register.
- Deposits differ: TrueWin accepts seven methods from Dh60 to Dh100,000. Play971 accepts four, from Dh10 up to Dh50,000, or Dh200,000 by card.
- Product differs: Play971 has a racing tab and TrueWin does not. TrueWin offers an Android app and Play971 says it has none. On 4 November, TrueWin's live casino lobby showed 204 tables and Play971's showed 30.
- The rules are identical: Emirates ID-only KYC, 21+, a Dh1 minimum stake, a Dh100,000 maximum, a Dh1 million daily payout cap, no Super Over markets, and the same withdrawal timings.
- Disclosure differs: Play971 says "Licensed by the GCGRA" and states it is unavailable in Dubai. TrueWin's homepage makes no licence statement and it publishes no location map.
Are TrueWin and Play971 the same company?
Yes, by their own documents. TrueWin's privacy notice says truewin.ae is operated by Coin Technology Projects LLC, commercial licence CN-3762798, based at Twofour54, Yas Creative Hub, Abu Dhabi. Play971's footer reads "© Coin Technology Projects LLC. 2026 Licensed by the GCGRA."
The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) register, checked on 4 November 2026, lists that company as the only internet gaming licensee and the only sports wagering licensee. It names no brands. Our TrueWin explainer sets out the history of the two brands and why the brand-level question remains open. Our Coin Technology Projects profile covers the company itself.
The two help centres also look like one system. The articles on KYC documents, minimum age, stake limits, Super Overs and withdrawal times are word-for-word identical, apart from the brand name. We can say they appear to share one knowledge base, but not more than that.
TrueWin vs Play971: what is different?
Everything below comes from the two brands' own pages, read on 4 November 2026.
Feature — TrueWin — Play971
- Minimum deposit — Dh60 — Dh10
- Maximum deposit — Dh100,000 (all methods) — Dh50,000 (wallets), Dh200,000 (card)
- Deposit methods — 7: Apple Pay, card, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, Botim Money, Aani, instant bank transfer — 4: Apple Pay, card, Google Pay, Botim Money
- Horse racing — No racing tab — Racing tab
- Mobile app — Android download (27.0MB) — "We currently do not have a mobile application"
- Live casino lobby — 204 tables — 30 tables
- Licence line on site — None on homepage footer — "Licensed by the GCGRA"
- Dubai — Not stated publicly — "Accessible within the UAE only, except Dubai"
Deposits
TrueWin's seven methods all share one band: Dh60 to Dh100,000, credited instantly. Play971's four start at Dh10. Its wallets cap out at Dh50,000, its card route goes to Dh200,000, and it describes deposits as "usually instant". If you want to deposit small amounts, Play971's floor is lower. If you are blocked by your bank, TrueWin has more options, including Aani and direct bank transfer. Both brands say deposited funds "cannot be withdrawn directly" and that only winnings can be cashed out. Our TrueWin payments guide explains what that means in practice.
Racing
Play971's top navigation reads Casino, Sports, Racing. TrueWin's has Casino and Sports, and the word "racing" did not appear on its homepage. Of the two brands, only Play971 offers racing.
App
TrueWin's /app page offers a 27.0MB Android download that "requires Android 4.4 or above". It does not link to Google Play or Apple's App Store. Play971's help centre says it has no app and is available "exclusively through our website". Any download presented as a "Play971 app" therefore does not come from Play971, by its own statement.
Casino size
On 4 November, TrueWin's homepage showed "Live Casino (204)". Play971's showed "Live Casino (30)", with tables such as Roulette Platinum at Dh50 to Dh100,000 and VIP American Blackjack at Dh1,000 to Dh100,000. Lobby counts change from day to day, so treat these as a snapshot.
Disclosure
Play971 states its status in three places: the footer ("Licensed by the GCGRA"), the "About Play971" text ("regulated by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA)") and a help article ("licensed by the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority"). TrueWin's homepage footer says only that "All money will be held by Botim Money in a regulated account". When we checked, TrueWin's terms-and-conditions address (truewin.ae/support/terms-and-conditions) served the privacy notice, not a set of terms. The privacy notice is where the operator's name appears, but it does not mention the GCGRA.
Where are TrueWin and Play971 the same?
Rule — Both brands
- Minimum age — 21
- Identity check — Emirates ID only; passports and driving licences rejected
- Stake limits — Dh1 minimum, Dh100,000 maximum "if the market allows"
- Daily payout cap — Dh1,000,000 per player
- Super Over markets — Not offered
- Withdrawals — Internal processing within 24 hours; Botim Money usually instant (up to 24 hours); IBAN one to five business days
Because KYC accepts only an Emirates ID, neither brand is usable by tourists. Our explainer on whether tourists can gamble in the UAE covers the wider position.
Can you use either one in Dubai?
Play971 answers this directly: "Play971 is accessible within the UAE only, except Dubai. Access is not available in Dubai or outside the UAE." Our current-status page on whether Play971 is legal and available in Dubai covers the details.
TrueWin publishes no equivalent. A search of its public help centre for "Dubai" returned only a list of card-issuing banks. The TrueWin version of Play971's "restricted area" article requires a login. TrueWin's privacy notice says it collects location data from "authorised geolocation service providers", so it does check location, but it has not published which emirates it covers. Until it does, we cannot say whether TrueWin works in Dubai, and readers should not assume that it does.
Why would one company run two brands?
Coin Technology Projects has never explained it publicly, and we found no new statement this autumn. The visible pattern is that Play971 is the brand with the public profile. It carries the licence statement and a brand ambassador, former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee, according to The National. It also has the racing product. TrueWin takes more payment methods, offers an app and has a larger casino lobby. Anything beyond that is speculation, and the regulator's register does not settle it either way.
Which one should you use?
That is not a recommendation this site makes. What we can say is that both are run by the only licensed online operator, both apply the same identity, stake and payout rules, and only one of them, Play971, says publicly where it is not available. If you do use either, set a deposit limit first. Both brands provide one, and Play971's tools are covered in our Play971 responsible-gaming guide. If gambling is becoming a problem, our guide to responsible gambling help in the UAE lists free and confidential support.
