Janu Al Marjan Island: Aman's Sister Brand Joins Wynn on Al Marjan in 2028

Last updated: 24 July 2026

Wynn Resorts and Marjan, the partners building the UAE's first integrated resort in Ras Al Khaimah, announced on 10 November 2025 a second joint venture on Al Marjan Island: Janu Al Marjan Island, a 132-room luxury resort developed with Aman Group and scheduled to open in late 2028. Will it have a casino? The short answer: no gaming has been announced, and nothing on the federal regulator's public register suggests otherwise.

Key takeaways

  • Janu Al Marjan Island was announced on 10 November 2025 as the second Wynn Resorts–Marjan joint venture on Al Marjan Island, Ras Al Khaimah.
  • Aman Group will manage and operate it under its Janu brand: 132 rooms, a wellness centre, dining and nightlife venues, plus Janu-branded residences in an adjacent tower.
  • It sits directly across from Wynn Al Marjan Island and is scheduled to open in late 2028.
  • No casino has been announced. As of July 2026, the GCGRA's land-based register still lists only one licensee: the Wynn project's Island 3 AMI entity.

What was announced

The details come from the joint announcement carried by Khaleej Times and trade press. The hotel will have 132 rooms overlooking the Arabian Gulf, a wellness centre with a yoga studio, gym, banya and hammam, two restaurants, a mixology bar, a nightlife venue and a Kids' Club, plus a private beach, beach club and pool. Next to the hotel, a residential tower will offer Janu Residences — one- to five-bedroom units and a limited number of standalone villas.

The ownership structure mirrors the flagship project next door. Wynn Resorts and Marjan LLC, the master developer behind Al Marjan Island, are the joint venture partners, while Aman Group comes in to manage and operate. Max Tappeiner, president of Wynn Al Marjan Island, said Janu's guests and residential owners would be "an additional source of high-quality visitation" to the Wynn resort — the strategy in one line: the two properties are meant to feed each other.

What is Janu, and who is Aman Group?

Aman Group is the operator behind Aman, the ultra-luxury resort brand. Janu — the word means "soul" in Sanskrit — is its younger, more sociable sister brand, built around wellness and connection rather than Aman's signature seclusion. The first Janu hotel opened in Tokyo in March 2024.

For Ras Al Khaimah, the signing matters beyond one hotel. Marjan's chief executive, Abdulla Al Abdouli, framed Janu as part of positioning Al Marjan Island as a multi-resort destination rather than a single-property play. Janu is scheduled for late 2028, roughly a year and a half after Wynn Al Marjan Island's 2027 target — itself subject to a "modest delay" disclosed in May 2026, with a revised date still pending.

Will Janu Al Marjan Island have a casino?

Here is what is confirmed — and what is not. No announcement from Wynn Resorts, Marjan or Aman Group has mentioned gaming of any kind at the property. The published facility list covers wellness, dining, nightlife and family amenities, nothing more.

On the regulatory side, the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), the federal body that licenses all commercial gaming in the UAE, publishes a register of licensees. As of our last check in July 2026, its land-based category still lists exactly one entity: Island 3 AMI, the Wynn–Marjan joint venture behind Wynn Al Marjan Island, which we tracked in our report on Wynn standing alone on the GCGRA land-based register. No second land-based licence has been granted to anyone, anywhere in the country.

Could that change? In principle, yes — the framework allows further land-based licences. But no executive involved in Janu has publicly raised gaming, so any casino claim about the property is speculation. If that ever changes, this page will be updated.
